The day I left W_RK was exhilarating!
It was Friday the 13th. I left my cozy Midtown West Manhattan apartment that morning, knowing I wouldn't return for several days, weeks or months. And off I was to my office, knowing it would be my last day there -- and celebrating it the whole way through.
Luggage in tow, it was my last day of work as a corporate attorney in one of New York City's most prestigious law firms. But it was time. After saying thank yous and goodbyes, I departed the office and headed directly to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to catch a flight to Las Vegas for my friend, JayCee's, 32nd birthday celebration. Oh yes, Vegas, we're doing this!
I'd been to Vegas only once before for a wedding with my ex-boyfriend, so I very much looked forward to a girls' trip to Vegas, and I especially looked forward to celebrating my dear friend's birthdays.
After placing some calls from the airport thanking family and friends who'd supported me during my law firm career, I boarded a one-way flight heading west. I was ready to embark on fresh ventures in my life -- entering a new chapter, although I knew not what would fill the pages. But I felt ready. And I knew it was time, and when it's time, it's time.
Hello, Fresh New Chapter!
